Whole black Dales Pony mare Bellhouse Black Pearl, known as Roo.

Roo is a very affectionate mare who is always one of the first to come trotting over whenever she spots a human. She is the deputy herd leader, second in command to Gem. She likes to maintain order and discipline our youngstock, so serves a very useful purpose within the weaning crew. Sadly, she has repeatedly failed to hold to service so has never bred a foal herself. She keeps our stallion Thornville Pride company during the winter. We jokingly claim they are like an old married couple, who clearly love each other dearly, although Roo is very much the boss!

Roo is a veritable powerhouse. She has 9 inches of bone, a very wide chest and huge hindquarters. She has tons of stamina and would probably excel as a driving pony, although we have never allocated the time to break her to drive. 

Roo's sire was the prolific Dales stallion Raygill William who sired over one hundred Dales foals before his death in December 2008 at the age of 25 years. A true testament to the stamina and longevity of the Dales breed!
