Rare bay roan Dales mare Breanna de Kingmaker
Breanna was born just after 1am on the 6th April 2011. She was Manorian Moonstone's fourth foal, and the biggest Kingmaker foal at birth to date. We chose the Celtic name Breanna, which means strong and honourable, to reflect her size and high status, being the daughter of the Kingmaker Herd Leader.
Breanna is a well-grown and confident young mare who we expect to mature around 15hh.
She is energetic and can be very spirited at times, but always behaves nicely for our farrier and vet and is easy to do. She loves our trailer and self-loads willingly. She is intelligent and quick to learn.
Breanna has inherited the rare BAY ROAN colouration of her sire King, together with his height, stamina and eye-catching presence. There are currently only 9 female bay roan Dales ponies in the world, making bay roan the rarest colour in the Dales breed. Breanna and her half-sister Calissi de Kingmaker are the only bay roan Dales mares living outside the UK.
Breanna's dam Gem (Manorian Moonstone) achieved extensive show success with her breeders Norma & Ian Thompson. She was the Dales Pony Society Points Champion (most inhand wins) in 2003, and Reserve Champion in 2002. Gem's full-sister Manorian Mischief is an Olympia qualifier.
Breanna has been retained by the Kingmaker Stud and will form part of our breeding programme.
