Our 2016 bay roan foals George and Galaxy left us today, in the safe hands of our favourite transporter Rolling Horse. They are travelling together to new homes in the south-east of the UK. We wish their new owners Catherine and June every success with their new babies and look forward to following their progress.

Calissi and Galileo left for their new homes in Germany this morning. It's a big relief to hear that they have arrived safely, and that both ponies traveled calmly with no concerns en route.
After all these years of breeding horses I still find it hard to say goodbye, particularly to older ponies like Calissi, as we usually sell our youngstock after weaning, before I fall hopelessly in love with them !
However, I'm very thankful that both ponies have gone to lovely homes. Galileo is joining Equinox de Kingmaker who we sold 2 years ago. Calissi will be broken to ride over the Winter, then aimed at ridden TREC.
Calissi is the first ROAN Dales Pony to set hoof in Germany, so she's a trailblazer for the roan representatives of her breed.
We wish Calissi and Galileo's new owners Alexandra and Carmen many years of fun and success with their Kingmaker ponies.
Following on from his 5th placing at the DPS Spring Show, blue roan Dales colt Flynn de Kingmaker took THIRD place in the yearling colt class at the DPS Centenary Summer Show in August 2016.
Earlier in the season, Flynn was placed FIRST in the yearling/2/3 year old Dales class at the Royal Cheshire Show where he also stood RESERVE CHAMPION DALES earning himself a short write-up in Native Pony Magazine.
He was also in the Top Ten at the North West Championships in October 2016, thus qualifying for the evening performance.
At home, Flynn's owners Louise and Carl Anderton are quietly continuing his education. He has been led out on the roads near their home in Lancashire and is said to be pretty much unfazed in traffic.
He is also keeping everyone amused with his cheeky antics - including a short-lived bid for freedom which found him stuck with nowhere to go between a stone wall and the electric fence of his paddock !
Rare blue roan Dales colt Flynn de Kingmaker, owned by Louise and Carl Anderton in Lancashire, attended the Dales Pony Society Spring Show at Barnard Castle. It was lovely to have a Kingmaker pony present at the breed show in the Centenary year. Flynn stood fifth in a strong class of yearling colts, ably shown by Carl.

Five ponies from the Kingmaker Stud - Wolsey Quebec, Aquilasstud Maebelle, Kingmaker Union Jacques, Argill Lady Beth and her 2 month old foal Galileo de Kingmaker - took place in the PRESIDENTS RIDE FRANCE, to join UK Dales Pony enthusiasts in celebrating 100 years since the founding of an official Stud Book for the breed.
Despite there being less than 50 Dales Ponies in France, a handful of members of the Association Française du Dales, set out to ride and drive a total distance of 500km, this being the symbolic distance between Calais and Barnard Castle.

Very relieved to report that our Dales colt foals Fission and Flynn have safely arrived in the UK after a very early start and an 11 hour journey from France this morning.
The boys are settled in a stable at Fission's new home in Sussex. Fission's new owner Catherine Fuller reports that both boys are happily eating and drinking, and seem totally unfazed by their Cross-Channel adventure.
Flynn continues the second leg of his journey up to Lancashire tomorrow. His new owners Louise and Carl are heading south with their trailer to collect him as I type !
Massive thanks to our favourite french transporter Denis Bougard @ RollingHorse for his kind and conscientious care of the foals, as always.
We wish Louise and Carl, Catherine and Gary, many fun-filled and successful years with their new Dales babies xx

For 3000 years since Neolithic times, inhabitants of the Alpine regions have practised the system of TRANSHUMANCE; the seasonal droving of livestock from low valleys where they over-winter, up to high mountain pastures for Summer grazing. Traditionally, this has typically involved large herds of sheep, with smaller herds of cattle, pigs and goats, but now we can add DALES PONIES to the list !
The photo below shows the Dalessi family; italian-speaking residents of the Swiss Alps, leading their three Dales Ponies, Elianne de Kingmaker, Emperor de Kingmaker, and Twywell Rosie Leigh (plus a small Shetland friend) 6km down from the mountain to their winter paddock/stables in the valley close to the family house.
A new piece of Dales history in the making. The Swiss architecture is pretty amazing as well ....
Two year old filly Destiny de Kingmaker (Thornville Pride x Wolsey Quebec) owned by Penny & Michael Eminson, of Highclose Dales Pony Stud, Lancashire, was 4th at the Royal Lancashire Show, expertly shown in-hand by Penny and Michael's daughter Nicola Eminson.
This was Destiny's third time in the show ring and Penny reports that she was extremely laid-back (almost too laid-back for the show ring !) and behaved impeccably :
Five year old gelding Kingmaker Adventurer ( Thornville Pride x Lowhouses Fiona) and his owner Fiona Mannings were placed 8th out of 18 ponies in the British Rare Breeds ridden class at New Forest & Hampshire County Show at the end of July 2015, and 5th out of 13 ponies in the Dales, Fell & Highland in-hand class, including highest placed Dales :
